Put Music In Your Walls!

NuTone of Cincinnati built radio-intercom systems wired into the house, with speakers in up to ten rooms fed by a master station that also handled AM-FM, records, and door-answering. The headline sells the wiring rather than a radio set: music becomes part of the architecture, a built-in upgrade rather than an appliance you plug in. In the mid-1960s these systems were a status feature in larger homes, the master unit listing around $150.
